Madison Family Photographer - Getting Fall Portrait Season Ready
September is upon us once again! With the kiddos now back in the swing of the new school year, and Autumn upon us you may find yourself looking for a Madison Family photographer to update the family portraits in your home highlighting the beautiful fall colors of Wisconsin.
As a Madison Family Photographer, fall is the most popular and busiest time of year for family portraits. So I wanted to offer some tips and tricks to prepare for your fall family sessions for a stress-free portrait session.
Tip #1: When to book your Fall Madison Family Portraits
Tip # 1: I cannot stress this enough… book your session at least 1 month in advance. If you’re reading this in September – that means go book your session ASAP!
As I mentioned earlier, fall is the busiest season (holidays, weddings, family events, ect.) and the most popular season for family portraits. So if you’ve been planning to book your family portraits this fall season, I highly recommend booking your session now so that you aren’t disappointed when this Madison Family Photographer is booked out for the entire fall season.
In fact, right now as I write this blog post I only have 4 spots remaining on my fall calendar – and I don’t expect them to last very long. Yep, it’s THAT busy!
Tip# 2: Preparing your family’s fall outfits for your Madison Fall family session
Tip #2: Gather your family’s outfits 1 month in advance. So once again, get those outfits together pronto! Fall outfits become increasingly more difficult to find in stock at your favorite shops the closer we get to October – so don’t delay!

Need help planning your Family’s Fall wardrobe? Part of my client experience includes a “styling and design pre-session planning call” where I put together some outfit ideas for your fall family portrait session based on any inspiration or ideas you have as well as based on your desired fall location. Surprisingly, many people forget to consider the elements around them when choosing their family’s wardrobe for their fall portrait session. However, this is one of the many details that I consider when advising my clients on selecting pieces for their wardrobe. This is a truly vital component for creating some beautiful artwork that you will be proud to display on the walls of your home.
Can’t find something to wear for your fall family session? I also offer my clients access to my seasonally curated Client Closet for Mamas and babies. Alternatively, you’re also welcome to provide your own wardrobes for your family session.
Those are all excellent points for anyone looking to schedule their fall photo sessions. People often don’t realize how quickly these book up and find themselves disappointed to miss out.
I love these tips and the beautiful outfits you shared! And thank you for sharing that clients should be thinking about booking their sessions ahead of time. It breaks my heart when a family reaches out and I’m fully booked for the season!
