Burlington Baby Photography | MUST-HAVE sessions to capture during Baby’s first year

It all starts with newborn photos. I remember it like it was yesterday, and yet my sweet tiny little 8lb 7 oz newborn baby has some how grown what seems like overnight. I cannot believe that I nearly skipped out on having newborn photos taken. I am SO glad now that I did, because I treasure these photos. I look at these photos and show our sweet boy what he looked like when he was brand new nearly every day. 

A lot happens in a baby’s first 3 months! There’s a lot of growing that happens, they are more alert, their eyes are opening to the world. These are moments that you want to capture! However, most babies are not sitting up quite yet so many assume that you cannot have photos taken. I am here to tell you that there are many ADORABLE ways to be sure to capture some sweet photos of your little one even when they are not yet sitting up on their own yet!

Seasonal photos are some of my favorite sessions to capture during baby’s first year of life! It’s so fun to get a sweet little outfit together and celebrate all of these little “firsts” with them!

The 6-month milestone is a pivotal moment in your baby’s life. They are halfway through their first year! Many babies are either sitting independently around this time or are just about to. This is. a great time to schedule a session to capture this sweet, sweet milestone! Although your baby isn’t quite yet ready for a sweet treat – my prop cake can make for an extra sweet (looking) session.  

It’s an absolutely magical experience to see a baby have their first milk bath session. They are absolutely mesmerized by the creamy white water they are sitting in, which makes for the sweetest photos! Add in some floating decorations (florals, slices of fruit, etc) and they are even more entranced at the mystifying magic of the milky water!

If I could suggest one session that is a MUST for every Mama, it would be this one. These are without a doubt my absolute favorite photos we have taken of our little guy in his first year. I also think I treasure these especially knowing what they will also mean to him someday. Someday when he has little one’s of his own, he will show them these photos of him and his Mama. These photos tell the story of the love that we have. I am crying just thinking about it! 

Christmas is a very special time for family to gather and celebrate the love that they share together. So it’s no surprise that this one should make the list. Whether you take family photos together with your baby or you have some sweet photos taken of your baby all dressed up for this special occasion; it is a sweet milestone that should be celebrated and documented.

I know I have already mentioned a few of my favorite sessions. But this one takes – the cake! I hope you laughed there! There aren’t many things cuter in this world then a baby taking their first bite of their very own baby sized cake. The look on their faces as they discover the sweetness this world has to offer and realize they get a whole piece of it all to themselves too – is too cute and too funny to put into words. This is something you are really going to have to witness for yourselves!
